Background

The School of Arts & Social Sciences is an internationally excellent centre of research and learning on the human condition in all its dimensions. The School aims to attract outstanding members of academic staff who will produce world-leading or internationally excellent research of benefit to society; provide innovative and exciting programmes of study; and enrich the lives and enhance the career prospects of its students.

The Department of Economics is a leading centre for research and undergraduate and postgraduate education. It has research strengths in theoretical, experimental and behavioural economics; financial economics and econometrics; health economics; macroeconomics; international trade; urban economics; and industrial organisation. The Department delivers a growing PhD Programme, alongside its highly successful BSc and MSc programmes and is part of the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) Doctoral Training Partnerships funded by the ESRC.

Responsibilities

The Department is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic as Lecturer in Economics to conduct world-leading or internationally excellent research and contribute to the delivery of the Department’s curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Person Specification

The appointed candidate will have a record of producing world-leading or internationally excellent research in Economics, with a clear publication plan for submissions for future REF exercises; and the commitment and capability to deliver high quality education. The Department is particularly interested in candidates with interests in Applied Microeconomics, Applied Macroeconomics and Finance but those with world-leading or internationally excellent research in other fields are also encouraged to apply.

Candidates must be available to start by July 2020
