Mary E. Walsh Center for Thriving Children (CTC) at Boston College uses research and data to identify and evaluate strategies that successfully transform schools and communities into systems of opportunity for all students. We conduct interdisciplinary research that builds on the strengths of both science and practice to understand what it takes to produce a true opportunity for all. CTC houses the City Connects intervention, an innovative and evidence-based approach to addressing the out-of-school factors that can affect students’ achievement and thriving in schools.

Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct research that aims to generate new knowledge related to how effective student support helps children thrive across developmental domains in service of uprooting systemic inequities, including activities such as:
- Contributing to a comprehensive research agenda within the context of a highly collaborative research culture
- Designing research projects and proposing analytic methods
- Conducting statistical analyses with detailed written documentation that ensures analytic reproducibility
- Contributing to the maintenance of large data files and development of analytic data sets
- Creating summaries, reports, and presentations for various audiences, including academic audiences, boards of research advisors, and practitioners
- Disseminating findings through conference presentations and manuscripts for publication
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals
- Enhance the quality, relevance, and usefulness of the Center’s research work for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners

Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in educational evaluation and research, education policy, economics, applied statistics, or related field
- Proven skills with advanced quantitative methodologies, causal inference analyses, and analytical software such as Stata, SPSS, R

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience writing grant proposals and academic manuscripts
- Familiarity and experience with research-practice partnerships
- A track record in leading and/or coaching others to produce rigorous research
- Familiarity with education data and experience managing related large datasets
