Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Business Economics Group in the Finance Department of the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah seeks candidates for a full-time, career-line faculty (lecturer) position in Business Economics. A successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in economics (or a related field) and have expertise relevant for teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in business economics. Depending on experience, lecturers can hold the rank of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor or professor.

Lecturers are non-tenure track faculty whose primary responsibility is teaching classes and advising students. Beyond this primary responsibility, all faculty in the Eccles School should sustain long-term currency and relevancy in their field of teaching; this may appear as scholarly activities and professional engagement within the field. The Business Economics Group currently teaches core and elective classes in the Quantitative Analysis of Markets and Organizations (QAMO) undergraduate major, as well as in the business school’s MBA and PhD programs.

Applicants must have either a record of successful teaching relevant to the QAMO Program’s needs or strong evidence of the potential for successful teaching. We are especially interested in applicants with a demonstrated commitment to student-centered learning and teaching of students from diverse backgrounds. A strong candidate must able to develop elective courses for the QAMO major, oversee teaching assistants, and coordinate activities with other instructors. Depending on experience, lecturers may conduct original research and serve on various departmental and college committees.

The Business Economics faculty members at the Eccles School are highly research active and well networked in academia and industry. Opportunities for the lecturing faculty to collaborate in research studies and practice-oriented student projects are abundant. The Eccles School is a world-class business school with a rich history of excellence in education and research. Salaries and teaching loads are competitive with top economics departments and business schools, and the fringe benefits are excellent.

The Department is committed to removing barriers that have been traditionally encountered by individuals from underrepresented groups; strives to recruit faculty who will further enhance our diversity; and makes every attempt to support their academic, professional, and personal success while they are here. The University of Utah recognizes that a diverse faculty benefits and enriches the educational experiences of the entire campus and greater community. This organization offers benefits to spouses, same-sex partners, and different-sex domestic partners.
