Context:
My study group is working on constructing a labor composition estimate using both the American Community Survey (ACS) and the Current Population Survey (CPS). The estimate uses demographic information of gender, education, and age to come with the median hourly wage and annual total hours for each cohort.
We understand that each survey has their differences such as ACS being largest survey in the United States and the only source of small-area statistics on a wide range of demographic, economic, housing, and social characteristics for all communities in the country.
While the CPS sample is designed primarily to produce estimates of the labor force characteristics of the civilian non-institutionalized population 16 years of age and older for the nation and all states.
We would like to use both of these surveys to estimate labor composition at the dis aggregated NAICS industry level (either 3 to the 4 digit).
