The U.S. Census Bureau today announced that it will release Business Formation Statistics (BFS) as a standard data product starting next month. BFS provides monthly data on new business applications and business formations to monitor shifts in economic activity nationwide. It was first released as a research product in February 2018 and given an experimental designation. BFS has now met the criteria to become a standard data product by demonstrating a need and meeting our quality standards.
The full BFS dataset with all 12 series (four application and eight formation) will be released monthly with statistics for the nation, region and states. This data product includes seasonally and nonseasonally adjusted data. The first release of BFS data as a standard data product is scheduled for Dec. 8.
