Apr 1 -- The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), USDA invites comments by May 31, 2022 regarding its planned request to revised and extend the Vegetable Surveys Program.

The Vegetable Surveys Program obtains basic agricultural statistics for fresh market and processing vegetables in major producing States. Vegetable statistics are used by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to help administer programs and by growers, processors, and marketers in making production and marketing decisions. The Federal vegetable estimation program now consists of 26 selected crops.

Some of the vegetable production surveys will incorporate sampling of the total population of producers, while the processing surveys will involve a total enumeration of the entire population. The renewal ICR documents will eventually contain only one change from our existing clearance (available here: https://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/PRAViewICR?ref_nbr=202008-0535-001). That change will be to integrate New Mexico Chile questions and estimates (funded by a state-level cooperator) into the end of season Fresh vegetable Production, Disposition, and Income Survey.  This change will require a modest sample size increase in New Mexico.
