The W.E. Upjohn Institute invites applications for two types of positions: visiting scholar and post doctoral scholar positions. The Institute is an endowed, nonprofit research organization that conducts independent, nonpartisan research on employment-related issues. The purpose of the two positions is to bring talented researchers to the Institute to interact with staff and to conduct research of mutual interest. The ideal candidate for the visiting scholar position is a tenure-track or tenured faculty member or a PhD economist working for a government or other non-academic institution planning a sabbatical leave. Candidates for the post-doctoral position should have a strong interest in policy-oriented issues and have completed their PhD between April 2013 and August 2014. The Institute is interested in research on issues related to employment, compensation, education, workforce development programs, and social insurance systems. The appointments are for a maximum of one year. The Institute provides a competitive salary and access to research assistants, library services, and computer support. Those selected are expected to contribute to the Institute's working paper and seminar series.
