The Office of the Chief Economist for the Latin America and the Caribbean Region of the World Bank (LCRCE) is seeking an Economist with a PhD in Economics or related fields. The candidate should have a solid theoretical and econometric background and flexibility to undertake policy-applied research on a relatively wide range of economic development issues of key relevance for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The candidate is also expected to carry out independent policy-relevant research, being the author or co-author of theoretical and/or empirical papers in line with the work program of the office. The candidate would also be strongly encouraged to collaborate with academics and colleagues in other units of the World Bank.
Effective writing and excellent research and communication skills are required. A sound command of written and spoken Spanish will be highly valued.
We will not be interviewing at the annual AEA/AFA Meetings. We will conduct phone interviews and fly outs starting in early February.
