Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Department of Economics invites applications for one or more open-rank continuing positions. Visiting appointments will also be considered. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Economics, preferably from North America, by the starting date (September 2014). Senior applicants must have an established research record and strong teaching credentials. Junior applicants must have strong research agenda and teaching skills. All applicants must be able to work effectively with a diverse student body. For retention, faculty must publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals and excel in teaching. The university curricula, teaching standards, and employment norms are fully aligned with the American model of higher education.

The University, which has over 6000 students, is located in the University City's magnificent campus, and is 20 minutes away from Dubai International Airport. The American University of Sharjah is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Department of Economics is part of the AACSB accredited School of Business and Management. The positions are subject to budgetary approval.

The salary is tax free in the UAE, highly competitive, and commensurate with experience. Free housing, paid utilities, and other benefits are also provided. Screening of candidates will begin immediately after posting, and continue until positions are filled.
