Full Text of JOE Listing:
Harvard Medical School invites applications to a search for an economist specializing in analysis of poverty, economic development, and health care interventions, to be appointed as assistant professor in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine. This tenure-track position is established to advance scholarly work in assessing the impact of health and health care on economic development and, in parallel, the impact of poverty reduction on health, particularly in low- and middle-income nations. We seek applicants who have demonstrated skills in modeling problems related to poverty, development, and health. We also require in-depth field experience in a low income region, ideally involving collaborations with local researchers and policy makers to assess and improve systems and policies related to health care. The candidate should have experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and a record of research in this area. The person appointed to this position will be expected to teach and mentor medical students and colleagues in the field, participate in collaborative research and teaching efforts relevant to global health, and develop an independent research portfolio. A doctoral degree in economics and experience in the field are required for this position.

Harvard University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer and applications from women and underrepresented minorities are strongly encouraged.
