The Division of Consumer & Community Affairs (DCCA) at the Federal Reserve Board seeks an economist interested in community development or consumer finance, including closely related fields such as economic development, urban/regional economics, and labor economics.

The position is in DCCA's Consumer & Community Development Research section. Primary responsibilities include producing research for publication and analysis of data to better understand the financial conditions of communities and the consumers therein. The section utilizes secondary data sources and also produces primary data itself. The economist is expected to maintain an active research agenda that advances knowledge about factors affecting the economic well-being of communities and consumers. Finally, the economist may also contribute to research focused on consumer finances and financial behavior, will contribute to the work of the broader Consumer and Community Development Research team, as well as collaborate with other economists, research assistants, and management. An understanding of issues pertaining to the community development sector and regional markets is desired. The position is located in Washington, DC.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or be very close to completing the requirements for a Ph.D.) in economics, finance, or a related field; demonstrated analytical and research capability; strong background in statistics and econometrics; and strong written and oral communication skills.

Candidates with a range of experience will be considered, and salary and level of position will be commensurate with background and experience.
