The Economic Analysis Group of the Antitrust Division anticipates openings for economists in 2015. EAG Economists work in teams with attorneys and other economists analyzing industries, evaluating competitive implications of proposed mergers, commenting on proposed regulations and legislation, evaluating allegations of anticompetitive behavior, interacting with foreign competition agencies, and providing expert testimony and support in antitrust litigation. DOJ is particularly focused on promoting competition for goods and services whose affordability has significant effects for people throughout the United States. While many economists at DOJ have a background in industrial organization, we value the skills found throughout fields of applied microeconomics. Backgrounds in development, health, behavioral, and political economy, for example, have all proven to be paths to great success within the Economic Analysis Group. Smart, creative people who like working in teams and enjoy applying economics to new problems should apply. The Antitrust Division is an equal opportunity employer, but U.S. citizenship is required and a Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidacy is encouraged for functional qualification.
