The Department of Social Science at New York City College of Technology of The City University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Economics to begin Fall 2015. The Department is especially interested in applicants who have a concentration in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance
- International Finance
- International Trade
City Tech, a comprehensive college offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, currently enrolls 17,000 students and is located in downtown Brooklyn. The Social Science Department is dedicated to promoting student success and encourages its faculty to become involved in innovative educational approaches such as mentoring student research and learning communities. The position requires teaching, student advisement, curriculum development, college service, and active research and scholarship. The successful applicant must demonstrate the ability to teach both Introductory Microeconomics and Macroeconomics courses as well as courses in the candidate's specialty. The position also offers opportunities for interdisciplinary work and collaboration with faculty in the Schools of Arts & Sciences, Professional Studies, and Technology & Design.
Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in hand required at time of appointment. Teaching experience at the college level is required, and the candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and learning. Experience with diverse student populations in urban settings is desired. The successful candidate will have an active research program and demonstrate a strong potential for scholarship. Research and publication are required for tenure and promotion.
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
