The George Mason University, School of Policy, Government, and International Affairs (SPGIA) seeks its first Dean. Located in the national capital region, SPGIA is one of the largest schools of its type in the nation. SPGIA has over 80 full-time faculty, 730 undergraduate majors, 1,100 master’s, and 200 Ph.D. students; and operates from Mason campuses in Arlington and Fairfax, Va. Responsibilities of the Dean:
SPGIA seeks a Dean who will lead and continue to build a top-rate institution. Reporting to the Provost, the incumbent oversees the academic standards, fiscal management, and overall development of the school.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have academic credibility, a commitment to the highest standards of learning and teaching, and a strong respect for the principles of faculty governance. Preferred qualifications include a terminal degree; senior-level experience in the policy world, academia, or private sector; as well as a record of fundraising, budget management, managing a complex organization, and attracting new resources. SPGIA seeks candidates of national/international stature with integrity and impeccable ethics.
