The School of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University invites nominations and applications for a tenured position either in Comparative Politics and International Relations or Development Economics with regional expertise in East Asia. This faculty position plays a critical role in the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program in our English-based Degree Program (the "EDESSA" program).

We seek a scholar with excellent research accomplishments and a commitment to teaching. We particularly welcome applications from those who are enthusiastic about improving mutual understanding among East Asian nations. The successful applicant is also expected to play a central role in the development of the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP) funded by the Bai Xian Education Foundation. (For details of the program, please refer to http://www.bxai.org/en-us/) The appointments will be made at the rank of either Professor or Associate/Assistant Professor and run from September 2015 (or April 2016).

Candidates must meet the following requirements:
1) Be competent to teach courses on East Asian Studies at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
(We particularly welcome applications from political scientists, economists, and historians who are capable of teaching some of the core course of these disciplines.)
2) Be competent to handle communication in both English and Chinese. Japanese language proficiency is seen as adding further advantage.
3) Be willing to actively commit themselves to the Asian Future Leaders Program (AFLSP).
4) Hold a doctoral degree or equivalent professional accomplishment.

Preference will be given to those with prior full-time teaching experience of relevant courses in English.
