The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) anticipates filling a Ph.D. level economist position in 2015. BEA's mission as a leader in the development of new and innovative approaches to economic measurement is to strengthen our understanding of the U.S. economy by improving GDP and other national, regional, industry, and international accounts data. A successful candidate will conduct independent research on topics of importance to BEA's mission and will be expected to publish that research in professional journals, the Survey of Current Business, as well as present the work at conferences. Candidates who have an expertise in the theory and practice of econometrics are preferred. Starting salaries for a Ph.D. level economist range from $110,000 to $139,000 per year, depending on experience.
