The Economics Department at Bates College, a private, highly selective liberal arts college in Maine, invites applications for a two-year visiting position at the level of Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor. A Ph.D. is preferred, but ABD will be considered. Each successful candidate must combine teaching and research in one or more of the above fields. The candidate will be asked to teach at least one elective on these fields of expertise. Additionally, the search committee seeks candidates willing to teach Principles of Microeconomics each year. The annual teaching load is five semester courses.

We believe that campus diversity contributes to student learning, and we embrace our College’s aim to extend access to a Bates education to an ever-wider range of students. In your cover letter, please also convey how your teaching, scholarship, mentorship and/or community service might support the commitment to diversity and inclusion articulated in the College’s mission statement. Bates has a strong tradition of interdisciplinary studies. We therefore seek candidates who can contribute to our interdisciplinary programs.

Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should submit electronically, the following materials: a cover letter, curriculum vita, teaching evaluations, and three letters of reference.
