The Graduate School of Economics at Kobe University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in microeconomics or macroeconomics to begin on October 1, 2016 (the date is negotiable). The tenure-track period is five years and tenure review will be conducted by the end of the fourth year.
This position is supported by the university's tenure-track program. During the tenure-track period, the successful candidate will be exempt from most of the administrative duties. The candidate receives a start-up fund of 1,500,000 yen, and a yearly research fund of 1,000,000 yen in the first year, 800,000 yen in the second and third years, and 500,000 yen in the fourth and fifth years. The candidate is also entitled to funds for employing a research assistant for five years. Additional support can be offered if Japanese is not the native language.
The successful candidate must be able to teach mathematics for economists and either microeconomics or macroeconomics at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Japanese and English. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. by the start date, and demonstrate a record of high-quality research in either microeconomics or macroeconomics. Peer-reviewed publications in international journals are required, but not necessarily for beginning researchers.
