The Health Economics Resource Center (HERC) seeks a health economist at any level of experience to conduct health services research at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system. HERC is the national VA center for health economics that is affiliated with the Stanford University School of Medicine. A Ph.D. in economics, health services research or a related discipline is required.
The strongest candidate will have experience with applied econometrics, cost-effectiveness analysis, medical decision analysis, or studies of health care efficiency. The economist will develop an independent research agenda, collaborate with clinical investigators and operational partners, provide consultation on economic methods to other researchers, and write proposals and publications for peer review. HERC has 8 economists and 16 other staff who conduct studies using one of the largest healthcare data warehouses in the United States. U.S. citizenship is required.
