The Department of Economics of the Bryan School of Business & Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Associate/Assistant Professor level to begin in Fall 2017. New and prospective PhDs, senior Assistant Professors and current Associate Professors are encouraged to apply. For senior applicants with a strong research record, appointment with tenure is possible. Candidates are sought with expertise in applied microeconomics fields listed above.
The research focus of our faculty is on analysis and policy in microeconomic fields such as technology/innovation, environmental, and health. Our department offers undergraduate degrees, an M.A. in Applied Economics, and a Ph.D. Our M.A. program offers concentrations in Data Analytics and Policy Analysis. Additionally, the department contributes to both the undergraduate business core and the MBA core. While we will consider strong candidates in any of our research fields, we have a strong preference for candidates who can teach macroeconomics at the undergraduate and masters’ levels and who can mentor PhD students in the field of technology/innovation. Interviews will be held at the ASSA meetings in Chicago. Junior candidates should have a Ph.D. in Economics by August 2017. UNCG is an equal opportunity/equal access employer.
The Bryan School has over 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 100 full- and part-time faculty members housed in six departments and programs. Accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB, the Bryan School is the recipient of many rankings, honors and accolades. The faculty and students are both impressive. For example, in 2015 the faculty members averaged 2.22 peer reviewed journal articles, published eight books, and occupied 57 editorial positions with journals (editor, associate editor, guest editor, or editorial board member). Students have traditionally performed well in national and regional competitions. The School takes great pride in being one of the most diverse business schools in the UNC system. More information about the School may be found at the following URL: http://bryan.uncg.edu.
UNCG was one of the three original institutions in the University of North Carolina system (Chapel Hill and NC State were the others). Classified as a high research activity university, UNCG is also committed to high quality teaching to its more than 19,500 students in seven colleges and schools.
