Position: Applied Economist
Responsible for working with members of the Labor Practice on the design, conduct, and communication of complex economic analyses in the fields of labor and employment.
Responsible for working with members of the Life Sciences Practice on the application of economic theory and econometrics to estimate the full value of different products that protect and promote human health.
Duties include:
• Keep abreast of trends and advances in health economics, and in labor and employment economics and law, including conduct of health and labor literature searches and case law research
• Manage documents and data received from clients, including initial vetting and exploration of large complex employment datasets (HR, Payroll, Timekeeping, Recruiting)
• Design and analysis of surveys to elicit preferences with respect to risk and alternative health states
• Review and manage the building of analytical datasets by senior programmer
• Frame and build economic models
• Conduct econometric analyses using STATA and other software programs
• Review analyses for quality control and present results to team members
• Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations, including written and visual descriptions of analyses and results
• Communicate with range of domestic and international clients as needed
Minimum Requirements:
• Master’s Degree in Economics (PhD preferred), with significant emphasis on econometrics or statistics and microeconomic theory
• At least two years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in STATA and other standard econometric/statistical software packages, including programming of macros and loops
• Proficiency using MS Office PowerPoint, Word, and Excel to create presentations, documents, tables, and graphs
• Excellent writing and presentation skills
