The Department of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse invites applications for a Research Economics or Post Doc position with competitive compensation and benefits. The position responsibilities are 100 percent research. The position is fully funded for two years via an external grant. Additional years of funding are likely, but not guaranteed.
Compensation for the position is $60,000 plus benefits per nine-month academic year. There are no mandated teaching responsibilities. If the candidate wishes to teach, however, courses will likely be available and would include additional compensation upwards of 50 percent of the position’s base salary.
The default start date for the position is August, 2017, but the start date is flexible. For instance, the Economics Department has a teaching need beginning in the spring 2017 semester. Up to four sections are available for a candidate to teach beginning January, 2017.
An economics Ph.D. is preferred; qualified applicants who are ABD and near completion of the dissertation will be considered. Experience with grant writing and fundraising is preferred. The successful candidate must also have a strong commitment to scholarly activities that result in peer-reviewed publications. The candidate should possess expertise in Political Economy and/or Experimental Economics.
The Department of Economics and UW-L are committed to being inclusive and supportive learning and teaching communities. We encourage applicants who enhance our commitment to these goals.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received with a flexible start date as early as November 1, 2016.
To receive full consideration, please submit a cover letter that addresses the candidate’s preferred start date and ability to interview at the 2016 Southern Economic Association conference in Washington D.C., a current C.V., a research statement, a job market paper, and contact information for three references.
