The Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School has an opening for a non-tenure-track faculty appointment as a Marshall J. Seidman Fellow. The Seidman Fellow will hold a research associate appointment in the Department of Health Care Policy. The fellow will advance their analytic skills and publication record through informal training and extensive collaboration with Department faculty on research projects. The Fellow will receive dedicated mentorship from specific faculty advisors, with the expectation that their time as a Fellow will advance their career development. The Fellow will work primarily with two faculty members on projects spanning a number of topics, including payment and delivery systems, competition, risk adjustment, consumerism, and price transparency.
Specific responsibilities will include preparing large-scale administrative databases for analysis, leading statistical analyses, and the writing of manuscripts to document study findings. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in health economics, health policy, public policy, health services research, or a related field; strong skills in data management and analysis, including experience with large data sets; experience in health care research; advanced programming skills with knowledge of data analysis software such as SAS or Stata; and, strong writing and oral presentation skills. The expectation is that this will be a two-year appointment that will prepare the Fellow for successful placement in an academic tenure-track appointment at major research university.
