Landcare Research is the New Zealand Crown Research Institute for terrestrial ecosystems, and its team of economists and quantitative social scientists undertakes research pertaining to land use, environmental decision making, biodiversity, ecosystem services, economic behaviour, and climate change in New Zealand and the South Pacific. We are the largest group active in environmental/resource economics in New Zealand and among the largest in Australasia.

We seek to recruit two full-time economists to join our team. The first will use his/her expertise in partial equilibrium and/or general equilibrium modelling to contribute to the development of NZFARM, CLiMAT-DGE, and other economic models. For this position, candidates with post-PhD modelling experience are especially encouraged to apply, although new PhDs will also be considered.

The second position is suited for an environmental/resource economist who uses econometric techniques with primary data to better understand economic behaviour. This position is suited to PhDs with strong applied econometric skills, experience collecting survey microdata, and strong economic intuition.
