Full Text of JOE Listing:
The News Feed Science team conducts applied research to understand the News Feed ecosystem and the behavior of people who use our site as well as implement improvements to the News Feed ranking algorithm. We build methods and tools to deploy and analyze complex product experiments and work directly with the News Feed Ranking and Relevance teams to better understand the stories that users want to see in their News Feed and what ranking changes will provide the optimal user experience. The team's recent work includes ranking changes to fight clickbait (http://newsroom.fb.com/news/2016/08/news-feed-fyi-further-reducing-clickbait-in-feed/), to show people more informative stories on News Feed (http://newsroom.fb.com/news/2016/08/news-feed-fyi-showing-you-more-personally-informative-stories/), research into networks and economic outcomes (http://www.nber.org/papers/w22258), as well as building tools to estimate heterogenous treatment effects and run network experiments.
We are seeking applied economists with stellar empirical research skills who are comfortable working in a software engineering environment. Applicants must demonstrate depth of knowledge in a technical field such as mathematics, economics, statistics, operations research, or computer science as well as experience within data science such as causal analysis, machine learning, surveying, experimentation, empirical research, visualization, simulation, and modeling.
