The Division of Health Policy and Management, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in health economics.
Applicants must have a doctorate in economics or a closely-related field (e.g., health policy with a specialization in economics); strong methodological skills; strong written and oral English communication skills; ability to collaborate with others in a multi-disciplinary research department; potential for excellence, or demonstrated excellence, in research, teaching, and advising master’s and doctoral student; and strong relationship building skills working with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The ability to develop an independent and sustainable scholarly research program, teach in the classroom and mentor graduate students, and participate in outreach and service is required. Successful applicants will also contribute collaboratively to multidisciplinary efforts as part of their scholarly work.
Both new PhDs and those with post-graduate experience are encouraged to apply.
Candidates at the associate professor level are expected to demonstrate sustained success in funded scholarly activities. Demonstrated experience in preparing research grants, publishing in quality peer-reviewed journals, and presentations in relevant professional meetings is necessary.
Duties include: Teach and advise MHA, MPH, MS, and/or PhD students; collaborate with and lead efforts to design research projects working with faculty, staff and students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, acquire funding and conduct high-quality research in health economics; publish peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and/or books; serve on Division, School, University, and community committees; and build strong relationships with individuals in our communities from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
Successful candidates will join a multi-disciplinary faculty of 34. The Division has four active teaching programs with a combined enrollment of over 300 students, including an MPH in Public Health Administration and Policy and an Executive-PHAP program, a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program and an Executive MHA program, MS and PhD programs in Health Services Research, Policy and Administration and an MPH in PH Informatics. The Division is one of four in the School of Public Health, which is located in a large Academic Health Center, and enjoys close working relations with a variety of health care programs and organizations locally and across the country, as well as governmental agencies at the local, state and national levels.
