The Department of Economics invites applications for a two-year position beginning July 1, 2017 at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek a candidate who has clearly demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and is prepared to teach introductory macroeconomics, intermediate macroeconomic theory, and one or more electives of their design in a range of fields, e.g., money & banking; international economics; international finance; environmental and/or natural resource economics. Ability to teach our Financial Economics (ECON 3301), a calculus-based introduction to modern portfolio theory and corporate finance, would be a plus. Teaching load is two courses each semester. Classes are all smaller than 40 students; many are smaller than that. Bowdoin values a commitment to research, a promise of successful scholarly engagement, and dedication to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment. We prefer that requirements for the Ph.D. are completed at the time of appointment, but advanced ABDs will be considered.

Please visit https://careers.bowdoin.edu to submit letter of application, including reasons for interest in the position and a brief description of teaching philosophy; curriculum vitae; evidence of teaching effectiveness; and the names and contact information for three references who have agreed to provide letters of recommendation upon request.
