Full Text of JOE Listing:

Chapman University’s Smith Institute for Political Economy and Philosophy seeks up to three two-year research associates (postdoctoral scholars), beginning August 2018. We seek candidates in political economy, economic history, experimental economics, and culture and economics but will seriously consider candidates pursuing work that cuts across disciplines of social sciences and humanities more broadly.

The Smith Institute houses scholars from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds, including philosophy, economics, and literature. Its mission is to reintegrate the study of the humanities and economics, and to combine research and undergraduate education. Institute members are encouraged to pursue these aims by teaching innovative classes.

Research associates will teach one course per year. Candidates should have received their PhD (or equivalent) prior to beginning the position and should address in their cover letter how their research and teaching fit with the mission of the Smith Institute.
