Harvard University’s Kennedy School seeks applications from scholars of American democracy, politics, and institutions for a chaired, tenured professorship. The position is broadly defined to attract accomplished scholars whose research has important implications for the health, quality, and durability of the United States’ liberal democratic system. Scholars who conduct empirical or normative research on issues related to the politics of speech, assembly, media, association, or religion in America are particularly welcome to apply. The search is open to candidates from a wide array of disciplines, including political science, law, history, economics, sociology, and communications. The ideal applicant, who is expected to hold the Frank Stanton Professorship, will have produced influential scholarship that advances clear and compelling analytical perspectives, will have demonstrated a commitment to applying those perspectives in order to solve public problems, and will seek to engage with policymakers, practitioners, and the public.
