Full Text of JOE Listing:
Consumer Reports works to realize a marketplace in which consumers’ interests are protected through robust standards that lead to safer, more sustainable options, and in which consumers are empowered to make informed choices and drive change. Our focus includes Health/Healthcare, Consumer Finance, Telecommunications, Automotive Safety, and Food Safety and Sustainability.
The Economist will advise on economic issues and data analysis, evaluating and generating statistical and economic analysis to ensure that Consumer Reports’ policy positions are informed by strong, practical analytical validations and research findings.
Responsibilities:
Assess the costs, benefits, impact, and other effects of CR positions and activities while communicating findings and recommendations to varied audiences.
Draft, edit, and evidence-check reports, op-eds, letters, legislative testimony, speeches, media interviews, etc.
Prepare and lead reports and presentations of data, including media appearances.
Qualifications:
PhD in Economics and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in industry, consulting, government or academic research, including experience applying economics to public policy. Strong research track record with understanding of the strengths and limitations of consumer choice models and theories and analysis of market externalities.
