Senior Research Scholar – Chinese Energy Markets and Geopolitics

Center on Global Energy Policy
The Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) seeks a Senior Research Scholar for a major research initiative on Chinese energy markets and geopolitics. Successful execution will require generating original research, managing external research projects and communicating research findings clearly and concisely to a range of audiences in a manner that maximizes policy impact, as well as contributing to the University’s wider research and convening efforts. This senior research scholar will be a key part of the Center’s China Research Program, led by David Sandalow. The position will leverage linkages between other areas of ongoing work in oil and gas markets, climate policy, the Belt and Road Initiative, U.S. foreign policy and contemporary China at the Center, SIPA, Columbia World Projects and Columbia University more broadly. The position will engage at a high level with key stakeholders. A high level of verbal and written communications, and cultural awareness, skills are required. The position will report to the Center’s Director.
Qualifications include PhD in energy, economics, public policy, politics, foreign policy, international affairs, national security or a directly related field, and 15+ years of senior-level experience in Chinese energy markets and geopolitics
