The JPMorgan Chase Institute seeks a 2019 Financial Markets Research Intern to work closely with the Research team to draw conclusions from JPMorgan Chase data and conduct original research on financial markets topics. The ideal candidate will have experience with empirical data analysis; a strong background in economics and social sciences; be knowledgeable about the current economic policy debate, and general economic trends; and have an entrepreneurial and proactive mindset.
Job Responsibilities
•Conduct original research and literature reviews to support the Institute’s ongoing Financial Markets research agenda and articulate the value-add to topical debate
•Attend, participate, and present synthesized research findings at weekly problem solving sessions
•Pull and analyze relevant third-party datasets to support ongoing research initiatives
•Identify promising potential topics for the Institute’s research agenda
•Explore and enhance data visualization tools to effectively convey research finding
Candidate Qualifications
•Current Ph.D student in Economics (with a field in finance) or Finance; third or fourth year students preferred
•Experience programming in R, Python, Scala, and/or SQL and experience with big data computing on a Hadoop platform (e.g. Spark, Hive) a plus
•Experience conducting original applied empirical research
•Strong training in econometrics, especially time series econometrics
•Demonstrates strong understanding of financial markets
