Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention advocacy group, is seeking a Principal Researcher. The Principal Researcher is responsible for leading the Research Department’s technical work: contributing to the design and development of innovative research, ensuring the accuracy and quality of all research products produced, managing all original research, and mentoring the team to improve their research competencies. The Principal Researcher reports to the Research Director.

Responsibilities:
Develop and manage both new and ongoing policy research projects from design and analysis to the presentation and communication of findings
Direct and lead the quality control process for all research and analysis
Determine validity and applications of social science research to decide whether policies and interventions are effective and what new policies and interventions may hold promise
Mentor Research staff to continuously improve research capabilities
Serve as a key expert on research related to gun safety

The ideal candidate will have:
A PhD in a related field or equivalent experience
10+ years of research experience
Published research
Fluency with quantitative and qualitative research methods
Experience working with large datasets using at least one software package
Working knowledge of firearm policy desirable
