Full Text of JOE Listing:
Susan Athey, the Economics of Technology Professor at Stanford University, has an opening for a 2 year position as a post-doctoral fellow, potentially working as part of her Shared Prosperity and Innovation Initiative.
The position involves working on a set of projects revolving around nudges, training, and education delivered digitally, where the applications focus on settings involving the application of newly developed methods at the intersection of machine learning and causal inference, such as methods for estimating targeted treatment assignment policies, or methods for adaptive experiments such as multi-armed bandits. The post-doctoral fellow would serve as project manager and collaborator on research projects, as a coauthor on some projects and as an assisting researcher on others. The position also requires interacting with industry partners and supervising research assistants at various levels of seniority.
The ideal candidate is either preparing for an industry position, for example in a technology company or a social impact firm, or an academic position in a field closely aligned with Professor Athey’s research interests, so that collaboration on her projects would serve as strong preparation.
