A postdoctoral position is available in Caltech’s Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Research will study the development, implementation, and use of data and quantitative methods to improve the administration and technology of elections. Focus will be on the development and application of machine learning and other quantitative methods. Candidates are expected to: help develop applications and tools for analysis of voter registration, voting by mail, social media, survey, and other forms of data; assist develop data management and storage procedures; plan, design, analyze, draft, and bring manuscripts to publication in leading journals in political science, computer science, or public administration; organize meetings. Candidates should be proficient in R; knowledge of python, database programming, and Stata is beneficial.

Appointment is contingent upon completion of a PhD and relevant research experience that includes the tools and topics listed above. Salary is commensurate with experience. This postdoc appointment will run for a period of one year with a start in June or July 2019; the postdoc could be renewable for a second year.
