The DIW Berlin (German Institute for Economic Research) seeks a

Head of the Department of Forecasting and Economic Policy

The position is set to be combined with a permanent position as

Full Professor (S-W3)

at a university in the Berlin/Brandenburg area.

The appointment of the Head of the Department of Forecasting and Economic Policy will be for an initial period of five years. For reasons of continuity a reappointment is envisaged.
Areas of responsibility: Head of the Department of Forecasting and Economic Policy at the DIW Berlin; teaching obligations in macroeconomics (two hours per week each semester).

The specific division of responsibilities and organization of work between the DIW Berlin and the appointing university will be determined by mutual agreement.

Prerequisites for appointment to a professorship: These are specified in the Berlin Higher Education Act (§ 100 BerlHG) – most importantly, candidates should present a habilitation or an equivalent qualification.

Requirements: Outstanding knowledge in the theory and practice of empirical economic research, especially with regard to macroeconomics and economic policy; experience in forecasting and in policy consulting; experience in acquiring and implementing third-party projects; an excellent record of research activities; international networks.
