CDC established the 2-year Steven M. Teutsch Prevention Effectiveness Fellowship to address ongoing public health demand for rigorous health economics-based inquiry through the recruitment, internal placement, and professional development of public health economists. Prevention effectiveness and public health economics assess the impact of public health policies, programs, and practices on health outcomes by determining efficacy, effectiveness, and efficiency through the use of econometric, decision, simulation, operations modeling, and analytic methods.

CDC is recruiting approximately 10 fellowship positions for 2020. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in economics, health services research or related health sciences, industrial engineering, operations research, public policy, or related quantitatively-oriented fields. Doctoral degree requirements must be completed by 7/24/2020.

The starting annual salary is approximately $80,000 plus benefits. The application period is 9/9/2019 to 1/17/2020. The 2020 class begins 8/17/2020.
