The School of Arts & Social Sciences is an internationally excellent centre of research and learning on the human condition in all its dimensions. It is a large and vibrant School with around 3,000 students (one third postgraduate) and over 250 staff in seven departments: Economics, English, International Politics, Journalism, Music, Sociology and Psychology. The School aims to attract outstanding members of academic staff who will produce world-leading and internationally excellent research of benefit to society; provide innovative and exciting programmes of study; and enrich the lives and enhance the career prospects of its students.
The Department of Economics is a leading centre for research and undergraduate and postgraduate education. It has strengths in core research in Experimental and Behavioural Economics; Financial Economics and Econometrics; Health Economics; Macroeconomics; and Microeconomics. The department delivers a growing PhD programme, alongside its highly successful BSc and MSc programmes and is part of the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) Doctoral Training Partnerships funded by the ESRC.
The Department is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic to Lectureships in Economics to contribute to the delivery of the curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and pursue research in Macroeconomics, Financial Economics and Financial Econometrics with clear publication plans for submissions to future REF programmes.
Person Specification:
The appointed candidate will have track records of producing world-leading or internationally excellent research and the commitment and capability to deliver high quality education.
