The Economic and Strategic Research (ESR) group within Fannie Mae is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate for one-year term employment. We will consider candidates trained in economics, finance, public policy, urban and regional planning, sociology, demography, and statistics. Interest in housing, real estate, and urban economics are pluses.
Major responsibilities include assisting staff economists with a variety of research projects as well as conducting independent research. Potential candidates should demonstrate experience working with large datasets, econometric modeling, technical ability with statistical software packages such as R, SAS and Stata, and excellent communication skills. Candidates with a doctoral degree as well as those who will be All But Dissertation (ABD) by June 2020 are all welcome to apply.
ESR is headed by the Chief Economist and its mission is to deliver high quality forecasts and independent research on relevant economic, demographic and housing-related topics to inform Fannie Mae business decisions. ESR team members have published in leading academic journals, and are encouraged to conduct independent research, attend academic conferences, and collaborate with outside researchers.
