The Federal Communications Commission (www.fcc.gov) anticipates openings for Economist positions (GS-12 to GS-15) beginning in 2020. These positions involve analysis of the telecommunications and electronic media industries, and development of policy recommendations. The current salary range of GS-12 to GS-15 is $83,398 to $165,500. Starting salary will be based on background and research accomplishments.
We seek candidates with expertise primarily in the fields of (1) industrial organization, (2) applied microeconomics/econometrics, or (3) microeconomic theory. Completion of a Ph.D. degree by the time of hiring is preferred. Experience with the telecommunications or media sectors or regulatory policy is desirable, but not necessary.
We plan to interview qualified candidates at the Allied Social Sciences Association meetings.
