The Department of Economics is seeking a tenure track assistant professor in applied econometrics beginning August 2020. The Department invites applicants with expertise in applied econometrics, in addition to interests that complement the department’s existing strengths in applied microeconomics. The successful candidate is expected to develop an outstanding research program emphasizing empirical analysis, provide excellent teaching, and supervise undergraduate and graduate student research. This position is one of two assistant professor searches currently being conducted by the Department.

In 2015, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln opened a Federal Statistical Research Data Center (RDC) (https://www.census.gov/fsrdc) which provides researchers with access to restricted federal micro-level data from the Census Bureau, National Center for Health Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and other federal agencies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop research projects using RDC data.

Minimum Requirements:
A strong background in applied econometrics; research interests emphasizing empirical analysis that complements the department’s existing strengths in applied microeconomics; interest in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including the core Ph.D. econometrics sequence; potential for research excellence; and a Ph.D. in Economics at the beginning of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of research excellence in applied econometrics that complements the department’s strengths in applied microeconomics; teaching preparation or experience, preferably in econometrics; expressed interest in working with the RDC, described above.
