About the Opportunity:
The position is in the aviation practice of Compass Lexecon’s Boston office. This person would be responsible for managing a team of Research Analysts under the supervision and direction of Executive Vice Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents, and Vice Presidents on a wide variety of airline and aviation-related engagements. S/he will be responsible for managing and overseeing the analytic aspects of projects from start to finish, serving as a liaison between the testifying expert and the client, performing complex statistical and econometric analysis, and clearly communicating results in the form of written reports and presentations. Qualified candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Economics or Business, strong attention to detail and excellent data management and analysis skills. Strong candidates will be comfortable and accountable in managing multiple client engagements simultaneously and under tight time constraints and must have a proven track record of working well in team-based environments.
Primary Duties:
- Assist in preparation of reports and testimony related to the airline industry in Federal and State courts and arbitrations and presentations before regulatory bodies in the U.S. and abroad in the following areas:
- Antitrust (mergers, class action lawsuits, joint ventures, etc.)
- Labor and Employment Disputes;
- Competition and Public policy;
- Damages and business interruption; and
- Statistical and econometric analysis of large airline datasets using STATA, Tableau, and Excel;
- Willingness to travel as needed
Qualifications and skills:
- Ph.D. in Economics or Business
- Ability to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations
- Ability to develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems
- Experience managing small teams of research analysts.
- Excellent listening, verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Proficient in airline data bases including U.S. DOT O&D Survey, T100, Form 41 and OAG
- Proficient in statistical or econometric software programs such as Stata
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
