The Department of Economics in the College of Business is seeking a senior scholar (anticipated appointment either as Professor or Associate Professor, tenured; or Professor of Practice or Associate Professor of Practice, untenured with renewable terms) for the Duane Acklie Professorship in the field of International Trade beginning August 2020.
The successful candidate is expected to bring, for a tenured position, a strong research program and experience in supervising graduate student training and research in international trade; in the case of a professor of practice, a strong background in international trade public policy.
This endowed position is associated with the new Clayton Yeutter Institute of International Trade and Finance, named in honor of the former U.S. Trade Representative, Secretary of Agriculture, and President of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The Yeutter Institute conducts an interdisciplinary program that trains students in the fields of economics, agriculture, and law to be effective participants in the domains of international trade, trade agreements, and trade negotiations. UNL also operates a Federal Statistical Research Data Center (RDC) which provides researchers with access to restricted Federal micro-level data, including US Census trade data. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop research projects using RDC data.
Minimum Requirements for tenured position:
A strong background and publication record in international trade, and Ph.D. in Economics or closely related field.
Minimum Requirements for professor of practice position:
Substantial experience in international trade policy, and Ph.D. in Economics or closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications for tenured position:
Evidence of research excellence in international trade; demonstrated teaching excellence; training of graduate students or supervision of research; and expressed interest in participating in an interdisciplinary program combining aspects of economics, agriculture, and law. Ph.D. in Economics preferred.
Preferred Qualifications for professor of practice position:
Demonstrated teaching excellence; training of students or professionals in the field of international trade; participation in or supervision of trade policy studies; and expressed interest in participating in an interdisciplinary program combining aspects of economics, agriculture, and law. Ph.D. in Economics preferred.
