The Department of Population Health (DPH), NYU School of Medicine seeks an experienced tenure track/tenured faculty member to examine the effectiveness of policies and interventions to improve health, using large secondary datasets including insurance claims, clinical, and administrative data.
We are interested in candidates seeking to answer questions about what drives health and health improvement, particularly related to social determinants of health. The faculty member will engage with the Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab (HEAL), a partnership between DPH and the NYU Wagner School of Public Service to examine policies and interventions to improve health. NYU faculty university-wide utilize claims and clinical data to advance population health, with special attention to low income, vulnerable populations. Through HEAL, they have broad access to NYS Medicaid Claims Files linked with social determinants data.
The data platform could be used to address a range of health challenges whether economic, clinical, organizational, or financial. It can support outcome research specific to given diseases, medical conditions, and subpopulations. Focus on any of these dimensions of the challenge of improving population health is welcome. Faculty will also be expected to draw additional researchers towards addressing the broad range of challenges that can be studied.
