The Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) at Yale University welcomes applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Health Policy and Management Department (HPM) at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure or Professor. The Chair is an exemplary leader, scholar, educator, and advocate committed to advancing the health of the nation and the world through evidence-based policy training, discovery and policymaking. This is a unique opportunity to advance a highly collaborative department.
As one of the first schools of public health in the nation, YSPH has a long history of being at the forefront of innovative research and education in health policy and healthcare management. YSPH values national, international, and cross-campus collaborations with professional schools such as Yale School of Medicine, School of Law, School of Management, Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, and Yale College. HPM is taking on challenges such as improving health care quality, promoting more equitable and efficacious financing of medical care, and addressing emerging public health threats such as the opioid crisis among others. Faculty in HPM train a diverse set of undergraduates, masters, and doctoral students as well as a selected set of post-doctoral scholars.
The next Chair of HPM at Yale will lead a strong graduate program and an active, well-funded research portfolio in health policy and health care management. Seizing the opportunity to shape future research directions, the next Chair will expand upon existing programs in HPM acting as a liaison with other departments, units, and centers at YSPH and beyond. Reporting to the Dean, the Chair will manage 120 students and 18 ladder and research faculty across a wide spectrum of research and teaching interests. To be successful in the role requires having achieved significant scholarship, a portfolio of interdisciplinary research, and a strong record of mentoring academic careers. A PhD, MD or equivalent degree is required.
Yale University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer. Yale values diversity in its faculty, students, and staff and especially welcomes applications from women, protected veterans, persons with disabilities, and underrepresented minorities.
