Full Text of JOE Listing:

Montana State University is a land grant university with total enrollment of 16,500 students including about 1,500 graduate students. Bozeman is a community of 45,000 people situated in the Gallatin Valley, 90 miles north of Yellowstone National Park. Residents enjoy a high quality of life, excellent public schools, and outstanding recreational and cultural opportunities. The Department of Agricultural Economics and Economics (DAEE) is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and the College of Letters and Science and has about 20 faculty members.

We invite applications for a postdoctoral research position sponsored by the MSU Initiative for Regulation and Applied Economics Analysis (IRAEA). The appointment will be for two academic years. The IRAEA is housed in the DAEE. The mission of the IRAEA is to engage undergraduate and graduate students with faculty in academic research that will further the understanding of U.S. economic regulation and policy’s impact on societal well-being. This position will support a newly established IRAEA Labor and Workforce Research Program focused on addressing critical labor market and workforce regulation and policy issues that affect Montana, as well as the nation. The majority of the scholar’s time will be devoted to independent research with the primary goal of producing high-quality refereed journal publications, and communicating research through workshops, policy issues papers, informational op eds, or other forms of media communications. The ideal candidate will have a well-defined research program in this area. This position does not involve any teaching responsibilities. The position will provide outstanding opportunities for candidates to pursue their own research on topics related to labor and workforce regulatory issues, collaborate with the IRAEA team, and interact with outstanding faculty in the DAEE at Montana State University. Postdoctoral scholars will be given office space and are expected to reside in or around Bozeman and to be active contributors to the initiative's programs. Scholars will also be provided a budget for research-related expenses.
