Full time research assistant to Professor Simsek
Economics professor Alp Simsek (MIT) is looking to hire a full-time research assistant for Spring 2020 and the academic year 2020-2021. My research investigates the interactions between finance and macroeconomics. Current projects study how financial speculation and belief disagreements affect asset prices, macroeconomic outcomes, and optimal monetary and macroprudential policy. The research combines theory with various types of macro-finance data to shed light on financial crises and finance-driven business cycles.
The job will involve close collaboration with me as well as my coauthors, especially Ricardo Caballero (MIT), at all stages of our ongoing research. Your responsibilities would include building databases, performing statistical analyses, and preparing and reviewing work prior to presentations or submissions. The position is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
