The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) insures single-family mortgages with balances of over $1.3 trillion. FHA supports HUD’s mission including the strengthening of the housing market to bolster the economy and using housing as a platform for improving quality of life. Like any major mortgage market participant, FHA faces dynamic conditions. To meet FHA’s dual mandate of contributing to the availability of mortgage finance while guarding its financial exposure, FHA seeks a well-qualified and experienced Economist to support FHA and HUD leadership with sound policy and financial analysis.
Successful applicants will work, both individually and as a member of a team of experts, with leading-edge statistical, econometric, and financial modeling techniques as well as identify best practices in credit risk analysis and management. Applicants need to have strong analytical and presentational skills. Experience in mortgage finance is an advantage but is not required.
