About the Company:
CyberAgent has been expanding its business in Japan based on the rapidly growing internet industry since the founding. We have been actively investing in various internet services include blog media (2009-), smartphones (2013-), and video streaming (2018-). Currently, there are three major business domains including Media business, Internet Advertising business, and Game business. In particular, we are the largest market leader in the internet advertising market in Japan.

About Digital Advertisement:
Our digital advertising division, AI tech studio, aims at developing digital advertising solutions through cutting-edge ad technologies. Established in 2013, the former “Adtech studio” has been providing various digital advertising products.
CyberAgent created an AI tech studio to centralize engineers and development resources for a digital advertisement that has been spread to the subsidiary companies in the past. AI tech studio offers strong organizational support for engineers, data scientists, and researchers to develop technical skills and become one of the most important engineering division in CyberAgent.

About CyberAgent AI Lab:
AI Lab is undertaking R&D projects for a wide range of applications in digital marketing. Through the tight collaboration with academic institutions, CyberAgent is bringing the cutting-edge research outcome to the core business value in our services such as internet advertising, interactive systems, and robot services. We are committed to advance the fundamental research in AI as well as making a broad impact on society through our service.

Currently, there are about 20 researchers work on various research projects in multiple disciplines including but not limited to: computer vision, natural language processing, computer graphics, machine learning, causal inference, econometrics, and human-computer interaction. We also actively seek an opportunity to collaborate with academic institutions to advance the research in the above areas.
This is an opportunity for a Research Economist position in AI Lab.

About the Opportunity:
CyberAgent AI Lab is seeking research economists to join the Economics team. Research economist at the economics team is conducting advanced theoretical research in economics and machine learning fields. In addition, they are also actively conducting applied researches using data from inside and outside of the company as well as implementing the results in the business.

Although it has been only several years since our Economics team was formed, we are actively contributing to top conferences in artificial intelligence and machine learning, such as AAAI, ICML, WWW, and NeurIPS, and also are steadily producing results. In addition, we are actively collaborating with academic economics researchers in Japan and overseas. We are also supporting the Japan Economic Association.

In this position, you will conduct theoretical and applied research in economics and related fields. You are expected to contribute to the top international conferences and journals such as Econometrica.

-Prediction of Causal Effect
-Evaluation of Bandit / Reinforcement Learning Algorithm
-Data Fusion
-Optimal strategy for RTB
-Application of Mechanism Design

Job Description:
As a research economist, you will conduct economics and machine learning related researches and publish in international conferences /journals. In addition, applications of research results in our business are highly expected. Also, team management, recruitment activities, and public relations will be required depending on your position.
(However, non-research tasks can be limited upon request.)

Minimum Qualifications:
-Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field.
-Ability to write research papers as a first author and to be published at peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
-Ability to replicate research results and conduct follow-up researches on top of existing papers.
-Proficient skills in R or/and Python, and other statistical analyzing tools.
-Ability to collaborate with members from various backgrounds such as, researchers from the other disciplines, data scientists, and engineers
