The Central Bank of Chile seeks recent PhD (in Economics, Statistics or Computer Science) graduates, or established policy economist with expertise in economics and data science to join the Microdata Unit in the Monetary Policy Division. Prior experience working in Central Banks, international institutions, or with big data is an asset. Researchers are expected to conduct policy-oriented research using large datasets of the Chilean economy to develop novel applied economic methods to study issues of interest of the Bank’s Board of Directors or Chief Economist. The successful candidate must have an interest in developing a policy relevant research agenda, excellent understanding of the latest applied economic methods, ability to interpret empirical findings with economic theory, and fluency in working with packages such as Python, R, STATA, etc. He or she must also possess superior writing and speaking skills.
